History

Route Monitoring was formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle to bid for the National Central Electronic Monitoring System (NCEMS) tender to monitor all Limited Payout Machines (LPMs) within the South African Gambling Industry on behalf of the National Gambling Board. The tender was advertised on the 02 December 2016 and Route Monitoring was successfully appointed as the NCEMS Operator on 11 September 2017. Route Monitoring successfully transitioned the industry from the previous operator and commenced its monitoring operations on 20 December 2017. There are currently 2000 LPM sites and 12000 machines.

Route Monitoring has a technical partner – Route Gaming Solutions (RGS) who owns the current monitoring system as well as the Evolution NCEMS, which is the new version. The current monitoring system has been running for the last 14 years. The new Evolution NCEMS will be rolled out in phases during the second half of 2018.
